Alcona County, on the Huron Shores Heritage Route, has something for everyone. It encompasses lush forests, sparkling lakes and streams and is bordered by some 30 miles of Lake Huron shoreline on its east side. The area offers four seasons of recreational opportunities, including boating, kayaking trails, camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking and hunting. Alcona County is home to many great golf courses and is an angler's paradise with over 60 inland lakes and numerous streams. A perfect place for viewing breathtaking sunrises over Lake Huron, watching boats coming and going out of beautiful Harrisville Harbor, visiting historic Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, following the quilt trail and camping at Harrisville State Park are but a few of the activities for visitors and residents alike.
