Located on the shores of Thunder Bay, Alpena County offers visitors a mix of natural amenities and cultural opportunities. Explore the City of Alpena as you jump on the Bi-Path which connects nearly all of Alpena's 19 park areas on a 16 mile-route through Alpena.....kayak or canoe down the Thunder Bay River in the heart of Alpena County....hike or ski the Norway Ridge Pathway through the Mackinaw State Forest... get out on Thunder Bay and fish the waters or dive the over 200 shipwrecks in the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary...spend the evening in historic downtown Alpena for dinner and a live show....take a sleigh ride and view the elk near Hillman.....view the sinkholes and learn about the area's Karst topography....the possibilities are endless for your northern Michigan getaway!
