Always wanted to write? Learn how at the three-day Alcona Writers Retreat from experienced teachers who are also widely published authors.

Kathleen McGookey, currently teaching at Hope College and the author of four books, will teach poetry in both verse and prose forms.

Anne-Marie Oomen, just retired from Interlochen and the author of five books, will teach memoir writing.

John Smolens, just retired from Northern Michigan University and the author of 10 books, will teach fiction.

The venue is Lost Lake Woods Club, an exclusive gated community just outside Lincoln, Michigan, between Lake Huron and Hubbard Lake in Alcona County. It's a beautiful, quiet spot in the woods to concentrate on your work. Lodging and meals are available at the club's own hotel.

Everyone has a story to tell; come learn to find the way to tell yours.

This event is sponsored by Inspiration Alcona and the Wayne State University Press. Support comes from the Michigan Council for Art and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan. Learn more or sign up at www.InspirationAlcona.org.
