Bring a boat and crew, or bring a crew or come alone. We have something for you to do. Row and/or sail. We have three different fun races. If you don’t have a crew, come alone and we will place you.
Taylor’s Race against the Clock is a race for crews. Each crew rows one of our twin Heritage-23's (H-23). The course is approximately 1,000 yards. The time will be recorded and the crew with the fastest time wins the traveling trophy and advances to the Tawas Bay Dash, an open multi-boat race, later in the day. We can run 16 of these time trials. The boats are H-23 Mackinaw boats.

Tawas Bay Dash is an open handicapped race for traditional style, fixed seat, wooden rowing boats. The race uses the same course as the Taylor. There should be at least four (4) H-23s and hopefully several visitor gigs, dories or other boats. The boat with the fastest corrected time wins the traveling trophy. Join the fun by bringing your boat and crew.

The Tawas Bay Traditional Wooden Boat Sailing Race is a handicapped sailing race for traditional wooden sailing boats. It features a LeMans style start, then to a windward mark and back to a finish line. The boat with fastest corrected time wins the traveling trophy.

This is still a small event and we are running it as an open event. Crews can be made up of individuals of varying age and gender. A H-23 crew consists of a coxswain and four rowers. Each rower handles a single oar.

Jodi will be teaching a class for coxswain May 21 and for crew rowing May 28. These classes are free to HCS&R members and race crew members; $10 for others. Jodi was water sport instructor at the Bay Front Center in Erie Pennsylvania.
