Join us for a unique hands-on experience for 2 hours aboard our 77? schooner. Students will gain a personal understanding of microplastics. This hands-on program involves participants in current research and explores microplastics in the food chain. Our microplastics sail involves participants of all ages in important Great Lakes research on the emerging topic of microplastics pollution.

Not only will you learn about the micropastics, you will also learn how to sail! Everyone will help raise the sail and experience sailing.

Some educational highlights of this 2 hour sail include:

  • Collect plankton from the lake
  • Observe plankton under a microscope
  • Identify live fish
  • Discover how microplastics enter and move around the food chain
  • Launch the manta trawl to sample for microplastics
  • Look for microplastics in an actual sample
  • Experience in sailing
  • and much more!

After this this hands-on program, you will never look at plastic the same way again. Join us for this 2 hour educational experience you will never forget!
