Jim Miller will be restoring and old birch bark canoe and continuing work on a new birch bark canoe on the front porch of the Harrisville Library. Watch, ask questions and learn about the materials, techniques, and skills needed to build this beautiful vessel.
Jim Miller is one of the nation's leading advocates of the study and application of traditional wilderness skills and crafts. The Port Huron, Michigan native discovered the beauty and essence of the natural world at an early age and has spent countless hours studying the skills of our ancestors in woods, fields, and streams throughout the Great Lakes region.
The Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan is providing a Native American traveling exhibit for display at the Oscoda Library. The exhibit consists of artifacts, three exhibit panels, and a video presentation with regional Native Americans sharing insights into their culture past and present.
