The Alcona County Library -Harrisville Branch will host special presentation with guest speaker Michael Wassegijig Price, Native American author, presenter, and professor at Bemidji State University in Minnesota. http://www.michaelwassegijig.com Michael will share his Anishinaabe Star Knowledge.  Michael has presented to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian’s symposium entitled, “Stellar Connections: Explorations in Cultural Astronomy.” He has also been teaching a class called Indigenous Astronomy at Bemidji State University in MN since 2007.  

Michael Wassegijig Price will also give a Dark Sky presentation “Anishinaabe Star Knowledge: Indigenous Astronomy” on the shores of Lake Huron at Negwegon State Park Saturday evening starting at 7:00 PM.  You must have a DNR Recreational Passport to enter Negwegon State Park. Please note a DNR Recreational Passports is required for park entry. ($11.00)

The Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan is providing a Native American traveling exhibit for display at the Alcona County Library - Harrisville Branch. The exhibit consists of artifacts, three exhibit panels, and a video presentation with regional Native Americans sharing insights into their culture past and present.
