Celebrate International Dark Sky Week with a star party. Kickoff at the Besser Museum with 2 planetarium shows.
Time:
1st planetarium showing: 6:30 pm
2nd planetarium showing: 7:30 pm
Head to Rockport State Recreation Area: 8:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Cost: $5 per seat for the planetarium. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Besser Museum. Call 989-356-2202 for details. A Michigan State Recreation Passport is required for entrance to the park. It is available at the self-serve station at the harbor parking area. For more information, contact P.H. Where:
Weather permitting, at 8:30-9:00 pm, gather at Rockport Harbor picnic area, Rockport State Recreation Area to view the night sky. Planetarium Director, John Heath, will point out visible constellations and answer questions. There will be telescopes to view details in the night sky.
PEAKING THIS EVENING IS THE LYRID METEOR SHOWER. Jupiter will also be in view.
A bonfire and s’mores will be provided.
