Learn just five or six basic steps and hit the dance floor. Beginners' confusion is part of the fun, but it's over quickly because you can see what your neighbors are doing.

There's one more way to have fun at the Alcona County Fair this year! On Thursday night, dance the way city folks can only envy, at a contra dance sponsored by Inspiration Alcona. A contra dance is part square dance, part line dance, part memories of country life, but mostly a great way to spend an evening. A lesson for beginners starts the event, and dancers of every age and ability are welcome. The music is live. Just $5 per person at the door.
At the Alcona County Fairgrounds, on Barlow Road just north of M-72.
