Contra dances date back to the American Colonies, but new music and steps are being written today.
Contra dances date back to the American Colonies, but new music and steps are being written today.

Contra dancing is part square dance, part line dance, part American history, but mostly it's just a good time. Come to the Lincoln Senior Center for Dance Alcona's November public dance. Don't worry if you've never danced this way before: The steps are simple, the pace is that of walking and there's a lesson for beginners at the start of the event.

Swollen Fingers String Band will be providing the toe-tapping music.  As usual, admission is only $5;

please feel free to bring a snack.

Hope to see you on the dance floor!
