This is called contra dancing, because two lines face each other during part of the dance, opposite or, in Latin, contra, each other.
The Alcona Arts Retreat offers this public dance as part of its long weekend of art and music workshops. People taking the classes will be there, of course, but the whole county is invited to Lost Lake Woods Club to dance along to the country tunes that are so much the heritage of the nation.
