This beautiful tourist destination on the “quiet” side of the state has served as a triathlon venue for 15 years now. What was the state’s best half ironman venue is now the final “up north” triathlon of the season. Not technically up north but they still call it that locally. Most of the tourists have called it a year so that means multi-sport athletes take over the town.
Great restaurants and shopping are still available as most of the stores are still open. Water temps are great, enjoy the crystal clear waters of Lake Huron. A fast, rolling beautiful bike course out through the state forest and then an equally fast and flat out and back run course that runs you right downtown before a turn into the finish line.
Honestly just a great September multi-sport venue, it is worth the drive for sure.
