Mike's serendipitous visit to Alpena's Cops & Doughnuts for a cream-filled long john led to an unexpected business opportunity. After enjoying his treat, he called Kim with an intriguing proposition: the chance to purchase a doughnut shop. Gayle & Doug Bruski had successfully established and grown the Cops & Doughnuts brand in downtown Alpena over the past three years. However, as circumstances changed, Gayle approached Mike about finding potential buyers for the shop.
In a strategic move, they relocated the business to the front of The Drug Store, conveniently positioned next to Arby's. The Drug Store, owned and operated by Mike's parents for over half a century, boasts a rich history of diversification. This prime location not only capitalizes on existing
foot traffic but also leverages the established reputation of a long-standing family business. By combining their passion for sweets with the Drug Store's legacy, Kim and Mike have created a unique synergy that promises to attract both loyal customers and curious newcomers alike.
Remarkably, Cops & Doughnuts marks their first venture into leasing space to a food establishment, adding a new dimension to their business portfolio.
In addition to the signature Cops & Doughnuts menu, our shop proudly features an array of local and specialty products, enhancing our offerings and supporting regional businesses:
- Alpine Haus Chocolat
- Cosmic Popcorn
- Bliss Gluten Free Bakery
- Echo Ridge Farm Eggs
- Rutherford Farm Produce & Honey
- Trade Winds Bakery Bagels
This diverse selection not only complements our core doughnut offerings but also showcases the rich culinary landscape of our community, providing customers with a unique and satisfying experience.
